Ministry Program Grants
Convener:
Nancy Mader
CCD receives applications for Ministry Program Grants, Assistance
with Building or Redevelopment Programs, and Emergency Repairs/Maintenance
Work. Information about these applications is to be directed to
Merle Fisher of CCD.
Ministry program funds are to be used for programs that are new
or continue the mission of your church or community. Building or
redevelopment programs will help to carry on the ministry of a congregation.
Emergency Repains/Maintenance Work applications will be for church repairs
or maintenance repair and work that is crucial to carry on the ministry
of a congregation. Applications will be filed with Financial Disclosure
Forms that are part of CCD procedures.

New Church Development Task Force
Convener: Jonathan
Lovelady
A New Church Development Task Force was established at the beginning
of 2008 in order to assess the opportunities for a new church within the
bounds of Shenandoah Presbytery. The NCD Task Force meets regularly
and is in a “prayer and discernment” phase. Demographic information
is being analyzed and the task force will be working with Pastor Brian
Clark, a NCD coach for the denomination. Members of the task force
are Jon Lovelady, convener; Tim Arnold, Rufus Burton, Sandy Cleaver, Rachel
Crumley, Helen Robinson, Amy Summers-Minette, and David Witt. We
covet your faithful prayer support for this endeavor.

The Barnabas Fund
The Barnabas Fund was created several years ago as an opportunity
for Shenandoah Presbytery pastors to financially contribute to the work
of the presbytery, with the intent of assisting the emergency needs of churches.
Currently monies are being solicited to build the fund in order to make
grants available to the churches. Clergy members are encouraged and
challenged to give $25 four times per year ($100 annually). When
the fund balance reaches $7,500, churches may request emergency need grants.

Mission Study Process
When a pastorate becomes open, there is a process in finding a new
pastor. One of the first things which will happen is that CCD will
appoint one or two consultants to help lead the church in a Mission Study.
The Session will appoint a Mission Study Team who will work with the consultant(s)and
help execute and write the Study. This study is a combination of
- Demographics (population study)
- Congregational Bible Study and discussion
- Goal setting and planning from the discussion
- Writing of a Mission Statement and Vision Statement
This Mission Study is a tool in which the congregation can begin to
look ahead in their ministry. The Mission Study will be used by the
Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) to write the Church Information Form (CIF)
when Committee on Ministry (COM) grants the Session permission to do so.
