World Communion of Reformed Churches is Born
More 80 million Reformed Christians in 108 countries around the world formally united on June 18, 2010, when the World Alliance of Reformed Churches and the Reformed Ecumenical Council came together to be the World Communion of Reformed Churches. Learn more at www.reformedchurches.org.
World Food Prize Awarded to Two Leaders
David Beckman, President of Bread for the World, and Jo Luck, President of Heifer International, were selected to receive the prestigious World Food Prize on October 14, 2010, in Des Moines, Iowa. Beckman and Luck are "receiving the 2010 World Food Prize for their landmark achievements in building Bread for the World and Heifer International into two of the world's foremost grassroots organizations leading the charge to end hunger and poverty for millions of people around the globe." It's only weeks away and Shenandoah's minister and elder commissioners and advisory delegates are deep in preparations for the bi-annual meeting of the General Assembly.

remember our commissioners and the entire General Assembly in your personal
prayers and ask your church to include them all in their prayer concerns
in worship now and throughout the Assembly.
HEART Program Continues
Helping Children
Begun in 2006, the HEART program is continuing to help support and encourage children who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Nearly 40 children in three cities of Ethiopia receive uniforms, health care, food and school supplies as well as a home as they prepare to make a good life for themselves.
HEART does not use its limited resources to track support to individual children, but funds go to support the entire HEART mission. Funds are used where they are most needed and where they can do the most good.
