To Be Elected Annually
Job title: Stated Clerk
Status: Part-time (one-quarter)
Employer: Shenandoah Presbytery, Harrisonburg, VA.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of a four year college
  • Ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament or an Elder of the Presbyterian Church (USA)
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and parliamentary laws as found in the most recent edition of Roberts' Rules of Order
 Responsibilities
  • Keep accurate minutes of all proceedings of meetings of the Presbytery and distribute them within thirty days after each stated meeting of the Presbytery
  • Responsible for the preservation of minutes, officials records, and remedial and disciplinary cases tried by the Permanent Judicial Commission of Presbytery
  • Serve as official correspondent in relation to both correspondence and records
  • Provide a schedule of time and places for meetings of Presbytery at least one year in advance, provide for a Presbytery meeting parliamentarian, and nominate a permanent clerk (person taking minutes) for election every other year
  • Keep accurate record of Presbytery meeting attendance
  • Receive and file all amendments to the Presbytery Manual and give notice and copies of such amendments to all Ministers of Word and Sacrament, clerks of sessions and chairpersons of Presbytery committees
  • Prepare Necrology Report; compile and distribute statistical reports, and distribute per capita statements to the clerks of session
  • Exercise the responsibilities of Stated Clerks as defined in the Rules of Discipline of the Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Manual of Operations
