If Rica.net hosts your web site, go to http://localsupport.rica.net/wsftp/index.htm
Rica.net for the authentic instructions for Rica.net subscribers. This modification
may be helpful for those using other ISP's. Check with your ISP for specific
instructions for your account.
Install and Open WS_FTP
1) Click Connect and you will see the Session Properties
screen.
2) Click on the New button on the right and under Profile
Name, type (the name of your church).
3) Under Host Name/Address, type in the ftp address
that was given to you to upload your webpages. For example: ftp.rica.net.
4) Under User ID, type in your username all in lowercase.
(usually preceeds @ in your e-mail address)
5) Under Password, type in your password . Click on the Save PWD
box next to it to remember your password everytime.
WS-FTP Main Screen
On the top left of the screen you should notice the words,
Local System. The Local System field should address the directory on
your hard drive containing your html files.. Click ChgDir. and type
in the address. Example: c:\program files\homesite\church.
On the top right of the screen you should notice the words,
Remote System. Follow the instructions provided by your
Internet Service Provider.
When you have your Local directory open correctly, and
your Remote directory open correctly, click on Options,
General tab, and click Save Window Locations. Hereafter
when you open SW_FTP it will open in these directories.
Once connected, the application can be used like Windows File
Manager. The left side denotes files on your local hard drive. Whereas the
right side denotes files on the web server.
When not connected to the Internet you can look through Options
and edit to suit. If you cannot transfer files, look at Options, Session
Tab and uncheck Firewall if it is checked.
With WSFTP you basically have the ability to manage files and
create directories. Listed below are the buttons and the features.
1) ChgDir - Selecting the button and hit Enter will
enable you to enter local directory ortake you into the general FTP area.
You can Highlight an existing directory and click ChgDir and go to that Directory.
2) MdDir - Make A New Directory.
3) Remove Directory
4) Rename - Rename a file
5) Delete - Delete a file or directory
6) Refresh - Refresh the display for new updates
7) Dirinfo - Directory Info.
Use the direction arrows to send files either way. Html
files are ASCII; Picture and Sound files are Binary.
