How to Upload Web Pages
Using WSFTP

If Rica.net hosts your web site, go to http://localsupport.rica.net/wsftp/index.htm Rica.net for the authentic instructions for Rica.net subscribers. This modification may be helpful for those using other ISP's. Check with your ISP for specific instructions for your account.

Install and Open WS_FTP

1) Click Connect and you will see the Session Properties screen.

2) Click on the New button on the right and under Profile Name, type (the name of your church).

3) Under Host Name/Address, type in the ftp address that was given to you to upload your webpages. For example: ftp.rica.net.

4) Under User ID, type in your username all in lowercase. (usually preceeds @ in your e-mail address)

5) Under Password, type in your password . Click on the Save PWD box next to it to remember your password everytime.

WS-FTP Main Screen

On the top left of the screen you should notice the words, Local System. The Local System field should address the directory on your hard drive containing your html files.. Click ChgDir. and type in the address. Example: c:\program files\homesite\church.

On the top right of the screen you should notice the words, Remote System. Follow the instructions provided by your Internet Service Provider.

When you have your Local directory open correctly, and your Remote directory open correctly, click on Options, General tab, and click Save Window Locations. Hereafter when you open SW_FTP it will open in these directories.

Once connected, the application can be used like Windows File Manager. The left side denotes files on your local hard drive. Whereas the right side denotes files on the web server.

When not connected to the Internet you can look through Options and edit to suit. If you cannot transfer files, look at Options, Session Tab and uncheck Firewall if it is checked.

With WSFTP you basically have the ability to manage files and create directories. Listed below are the buttons and the features.

1) ChgDir - Selecting the button and hit Enter will enable you to enter local directory ortake you into the general FTP area. You can Highlight an existing directory and click ChgDir and go to that Directory.
2) MdDir - Make A New Directory.
3) Remove Directory
4) Rename - Rename a file
5) Delete - Delete a file or directory
6) Refresh - Refresh the display for new updates
7) Dirinfo - Directory Info.

Use the direction arrows to send files either way. Html files are ASCII; Picture and Sound files are Binary.
